Shaving my face?! What on earth…
Ok hear me out, not shaving my face in the sense of having loads of shaving foam applied everywhere and liberally going in with a razor. I’ve started dermaplaning using a product called Hollywood Browzer after the team got in contact and asked if I’d like to try it.
You’ve probably seen this product across Instagram and other social media – it’s essentially a razor’s edge housed inside a handle that is used to remove dead skin cells and tiny peach fuzz hairs across the surface of the face.
Doesn’t It Make Hair Grow Back Thicker?
This was one of things I was worried about to start with. I thought if I shaved baby hairs off my face they’d grow back stubbly and thick like the hairs on my legs
It actually doesn’t grow back stubbly or thicker at all and has a whole host of added benefits. Removing baby hair from the face can stimulate collagen, reduce any fine lines and even helps with acne. I’ve even started using it on my eyebrows to trim any stray hairs!
My skin is always left feeling really healthy and smooth, with no irritation or redness which I can get when I shave my legs.
How Do You Use It?
Unfold the Browzer so its fully extended. Then hold whatever area of your skin you want to use it on taut. Whilst holding the Browzer at a 45 degree angle just go in with short scraping motions to remove the hair. I will also periodically wipe the blade so it stays clean and removes any build up of hair.
Where Else Can It Be Used?
The Browzer really is multi-use! You can use it for:
- Dermaplaning your skin
- Tidying up your eyebrows
- Even under your arms should you feel inclined!
The only places you should stay away from are broken skin, areas with moles or with extra sensitivity.
What About Tips For Your Skin After Dermaplaning?
After I’ve used the Browzer I always make sure to take extra care of my skin.
- I’ll apply a layer of moisturiser to make sure the skin is hydrated
- Avoid any harsh exfoliants and use gentle fragrance free cleansers (hello, Cerave!)
So far I’ve really enjoyed using the Hollywood Browzer. It has made my skin feel smooth and gives me a great base for my foundation and skin products. The fact that the hair is just scraped away and it’s growth isn’t altered is a definite bonus, and means I never have to worry about thick hair growing back. I’ll likely be using it every 3-4 weeks for best results!
